The Digby Tap - Sherborne's Only Free House

Beers

We have five beer engines at the tap that are in constant use. That means we always have four beers available at any one time with the fifth engine ready as soon as one runs out. Our customers generally prefer the session beers between 3.4 and 4.2 abv and we generally keep to this pattern, although we do occasionally ring the changes and  have a more powerful brew. Below are a selection of our regular beers that we enjoy and we also mix in a few others on a regular basis to keep abreast of things. We are always very keen to keep our beer prices as low as we can and currently our prices start at £1.80 a pint.

Two new arrivals

Spring Tide Ale is a seasonal beer brewed by Teignworthy Brewery. Named after the high tides that wash up the Teign estuary a stones throw from the brewery. It is a copper coloured ale made from Tuckers on floor malted barleys. The pale malt used is the renowned variety Maris Otter. This is mixed with a generous quantity of crystal malt and English aromatic hops are added to give those bitter-sweet flavours loved by the drinkers deep in the West Country. The presence of live yeast allows Fortyniner, a strong ale, to mature naturally in the bottle. This secondary fermentation produces the sparkle and character of cask conditioned beer. It also leaves a light sediment that should remain in the bottle after careful pouring.
